San Diego bilingual tour

SAN DIEGO – IntelliTours LLC extended its leadership in GPS-triggered audio tours today with the launch of Tour Coupes, a fleet of two-seat, three-wheeled scooters equipped with bilingual (Spanish and English) narration of 50 historic and famous sites.

Under sunny skies and airwaves of excited TV coverage, Tour Coupes’s sporty fleet zipped about the city, turning heads with bright colors and sounds.

Tour Coupes, owned by San Diego natives Anthony May and Melissa Mahan, chose IntelliTours to help put “fun back into travel.” The little cars can be rented by the hour or day and driven all over the city. As drivers pass sites, IntelliTours’ GPS system automatically plays a unique narration, complete with theme music.

The tour includes stops in Coronado, the Gaslamp District, Point Loma, Navy yards, Harbor Drive, Old Town, Sea World, Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo, providing drivers and passengers with the “best of” San Diego.

“Our families have never been a big fan of guided tours, because I think half the fun of seeing a city is exploring it on your own,” said Mahan. “That said, tours do offer a real value of giving inside information that you often can’t find in a book. One day we thought, wouldn’t it be great to be able to tour in something on your own, while getting a guided tour. That’s how Tour Coupes was born.”

May and Mahan asked IntelliTours to create a tour that fully explained San Diego’s unique and often-troubled history as a Spanish and Mexican capital, and its evolution into one of America’s favorite year-round playgrounds. A bilingual tour was a must, as was the inclusion of the groups and people that shaped San Diego: Native Americans, Spanish Missionaries, the United States Military, Alonzo Horton, Chinese, Japanese, Chicanos
and much more.

“A Tour Coupe customer will enjoy a richer experience with a far better understanding of the multi-faceted history of San Diego,” said Jim Carrier, IntelliTours founder who researched and wrote the tour.

The tour was translated into Spanish by Trish O’Kane. The narrator is Michele Torres, a well-known bilingual voice talent and host for Home and Garden TV. For more information on multi-language tours, call 334-834-4533 or write info@intellitours.com.
